Julia drove past this Amish farm near her home for years before she decided to paint it. Rows of earthy browns and rich hues of green form a pattern that becomes a patchwork of fields against the rectangular buildings of the Amish homestead. The sharp, white shapes of the buildings come alive in the bright sunlight and contrast with the more subtle green pasture and rustic fence. Again, Julia has taken a traditional landscape and transformed it into an impressionistic view filled with vibrant brushstrokes. Julia Swartz Art Gallery, Lancaster PA.
