This oil painting is the more recent rendition of the apple that Julia painted in 1978. Because her innate tendency is to paint very tight and realistic, she enjoys pushing herself to loosen up and take a more impressionistic approach. With broad swipes of paint and more luminous color, she has achieved a more dynamic painting.
